Latest Updates from Our Project:

CAMEOS: We're ready for your close up!
over 1 year ago – Wed, Mar 08, 2023 at 06:38:41 PM

I’ve been a pool playing biker thug.

me in Mayfield 8 by Tim Larsen

I’ve been a shady motorcycle parts dealer.

Mayfield 8 web series by Tim Larsen

I’ve drank beer at an edge-of-the-universe spaceport watering hole.

Bug Hunt by Geoff Weber

I’ve been subdued by a sultry bunny-mask wearing assassin.

Wild Nature 2 by David Taylor

All through the magic of COMIC BOOK CAMEOS! I’m not that into myself, really, but by supporting a lot of indie comics projects, one way or another I’ve found myself in a bunch of books by some really cool creators.

Cameo Horde, Dallas #2

I’ve included a load of cameos in By the Time I Get to Dallas, with many spots snagged by friends and family but other going to comics fans who just want to be in a comic. I’ve even put cameos on the cover of Dallas #2. We’ve drawn a bunch more into Book 4, which is what I’m campaigning for right now, and I have just FOUR SPOTS LEFT for Book 5 cameos, for only $99! (Look at other projects and you’ll see cameo spots are usually pricier than this.) So if you want to live out a comics fantasy from the safety of your couch without needing to put on makeup, grab a spot and be in my story!

Thanks again for all your support!

FUNDED!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Mar 06, 2023 at 08:44:44 AM

THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Last night we passed our funding goal, about 56 hours into the campaign. This book is going to happen, and I’m so excited to share it with you. It’s a bit humbling that so many people keep coming back to check out this weird story that started as a dream over a decade ago.

Well that escalated (sort of ) quickly.

When I started writing this thing in earnest in 2013, I figured at best I’d hire a novice artist to sketch what was then a 96-page story, and I’d print a few copies to have on my shelf and share with friends. Fast forward a quick **cough** ten years and I’ve got a top notch art team putting out over 150 pages of story and counting, and people all over the world are reading that story in print and digital format. That wouldn’t have happened with all your support on Kickstarter. I'm promise I'll keep cranking until the story is told and in your hands.

Celebratory beer: Treehouse Emperor Julius. Thank you Kayla for the decisive pledge AND the glass!

Thank you all so much for your support.

Colin

Here’s another cool project running now:

PORTRAITS--4TH Sketchbook by artist Michael Penick

Michael Penick is a friend of mine who has 20 years as a professional cartoonist and Illustrator. His last series launch, Recovery Incorporated, was a sexy corporate espionage thriller that blew up Kickstarter. Now he’s launched a passion project showcasing his art skills in a collection of 80 fantastic portraits.

Sometimes you don’t want to read words and follow byzantine plots. Sometimes you just want to look at great art. Check it out and help Mike finish strong, just 3 days left!

Milestone #1 UNLOCKED: Free stuff for everyone!
over 1 year ago – Sun, Mar 05, 2023 at 11:00:58 AM

We hit 75 backers easily on Day 1 and that means everyone will get access to Milestone #1 in our All-Star Bundle of awesome indie comics!

WILD NATURE #1 (80 pages) + WILD NATURE #2 Preview (32 pages)

It’s year 2080, Miami. Reality television has reached its predictable pinnacle with Wild Nature, a game show where teams of armed combatants stalk each other and fight to the death for fame and fortune. Swan is a former black ops and a legendary champion. Swan’s making big changes in his life, quitting the deathsport that made him rich, and trying to be anyone other than who he really is. And almost no one wants that to happen. Not his best friend, not his fanbase, and definitely not the sinister voice in the back of his mind.

David Taylor is one of my favorite creators and I love his current series, Wild Nature. (I love it so much I hired the editor, Claire Napier, and she has been a huge addition to By the Time I Get to Dalas #4.) Taylor is at his best capturing the brooding, conflicted humanity of his richly imagined characters, and forcing them into impossible choices. WIth our last campaign he let us have the complete Book 1, a solid 80 pages of awesome! You get all that again here plus the next 32 pages of Book 2. This will prep you for Book 3, launching on Kickstarter later this year. I’ll be sure to let you know when it launches.

Did you know I make an appearance in this book? Per my request, I’m being rabbit handled by my favorite character, who I affectionately call Murder Bunny. Hurts so good.

As I write this we just Milestone #2! Will tell you about that one soon.

Thank you for backing!

LAUNCHED! By the Time I Get to Dallas #4 is off to a flying start
over 1 year ago – Sat, Mar 04, 2023 at 09:03:43 AM

Welcome to the latest installment of the By the Time I Get to Dallas and The Trinity Project!

Yesterday I hit “launch” at 6 am and then had to hit the road and run around all day and night, with furtive checks of my phone every few minutes. After some much needed sleep I’m finally getting to open my laptop and see what’s been happening. The short answer: great start! It's wonderful to see so many returning fans from all over the world, I'm excited to send you all thank you's in the coming days (and postcards later!) But let me say now to everyone: THANK YOU!

For Update 1 I’ll call out the things you really need to know about this campaign. WIth future updates I’ll focus on the story, the art, the rewards, behind the scenes stuff, and other projects running now that I think are cool.

I respond as quickly as I can through KS messaging, you can also email me at [email protected] if you have nay questions or issues.

Early Bird reward. Every Early Bird backer (physical OR digital tier pledge in the first 5 days) receives a custom postcard signed by me and sent by old fashioned snail mail to you anywhere in the physical world.

Everyone gets TWO books. Every issue of By the Time I Get to Dallas comes with its companion prequel The Trinity Project. So even the basic digital and physical reward tiers give you roughly 56 pages of new story!

The return of the $99 cameo! The cameo spots for Dallas #4 already sold in the Dallas #3 campaign, but don't worry, we have a few new spots open in Dallas #5 for YOU or a loved one as an extra (maybe as a Traveler, maybe a militia antagonist, maybe as an emergency room patient.)

Collector’s Box. Finally, you can keep all these floppies on your shelf in one place! Breaking news, I just got that actual box in and it is way better than I’d even hoped. If you want this repository of awesome, you can switch your pledge at any time to the collector's box tiers OR you an adjust you pledge to add it on to any tier. Check a few glamour shots I just took:

Hello, little books, I'm a box.

ALL STAR BUNDLE - FREE! As we hit backer numbers I’ll be adding awesome content from my favorite indie comic creators for a free ALL STAR DIGITAL BUNDLE for EVERY BACKER. Order and tier of Dallas  and you get multiple other complete digital books FREE! We've unlocked the first  and are marching towards Miletone #2. I'll talk more about these cool books in future updates.

That's enough for now, plenty more to follow.

Once again, thank you for your support!

Colin

Here’s another cool project running now:

 ©alifornia, Inc.

©alifornia, Inc. is a geopolitical sci-fi story chronicling the corporate nation's future rise from the old union. I just backed this book cause it looks intriguing and high quality, just like me.

They say ©alifornia, Inc. is for fans of Showtime’s Homeland and HBO’s Succession. It combines the geopolitical chess moves of each power-player and influencer with the pulse-pounding action of tactical military missions, featuring the soldiers and statesmen of ©alifornia, Inc. I don’t know the creators, but the writer worked on the Simpsons and Futurama, so that’s cool. It’s obviously a well executed book, and if you like sprawling post apocalyptic kind of fare--which you probably do if you're here--then this one is up your alley. Three days left!
